In a context where product safety legislation and the market are constantly evolving, it is essential for consumer professionals to stay up to date in order to effectively protect consumers, especially the most vulnerable. With this goal in mind, the ECP8 80 project “Empowering Consumer Professionals: 8 80 Training on Product Safety and Sustainability under the new European legal framework” has been launched.
It is designed to strengthen the skills of technicians from consumer organizations and other professionals involved in consumer education, both at the local and international level.
The project’s “8 80” approach aims to encompass the education of all consumers, from the youngest to the elderly. Through a dedicated toolkit and training activities, ECP8 80 will address key topics such as:
- Consumer product safety under the new European legal framework.
- Sustainability and the upcoming implementation of the Digital Product Passport.
- The new role of consumers and consumer organizations.
ECP8 80 was launched in March 2025 with the celebration of its kick-off meeting, and will run for 14 months.
This project is a collaboration between the Federación Provincial de Amas de Casa y Consumidores Lucentum, AIJU Technological Institute for Children’s Products and Leisure and APSI, Associação para a Promoção da Segurança Infantil. It is co-funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme. These institutions are committed to providing high-quality training that strengthens consumer protection and empowers individuals to make more informed decisions.
